This model just went into production at the famed Ujina Plant near brand headquarters in Hiroshima. Set to launch sometime early next year, we can’t wait to see the new RF in action.

The Mazda MX-5 RF model comes with a truly enjoyable driving experience thanks to its unique fastback design and removable roof. According to Mazda, the brand was recently awarded the World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year for the Miata, proving just how great the new model year truly is. This new RF trim is adding to the model’s already impressive success.

“An extension of the MX-5 family, MX-5 RF fully embodies the core value of ‘Lots of Fun’ that has defined MX-5 throughout its 27-year history,” read a release from Mazda. “This new two-seater sports car features a unique fastback design and offers an exhilarating open-air feel.”

Aside from the unique exterior, this MX-5 will get a SKYACTIV®-G 2.0-litre DOCH 16-valve four-cylinder engine with VVT. This is paired with a six-speed sport transmission with paddle shifters, allowing a maximum output of 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Giving you true access to the world, the new MX-5 RF is unforgettable.
